Capitol Rehab augments wellness focus via new blog dedicated to nutrition and healthy, local eating
Monday, December 7th, 2009 At 9:30 pm
We are extremely excited to announce a unique relationship that has formed between Capitol Rehab and the local farm-to-table movement. ”Farm-to-table,” you ask? Yes, in our efforts to provide current and progressive information about diet and nutrition, we have decided to bring the discussion of nutrition all the way back to its origins. We are in the process of partnering with local farmers, farmers markets, restaurateurs and area food enthusiasts to present an interactive platform on our web page that will focus exclusively on healthy eating. This new blog will discuss such topics as how to shop, prepare, store and enjoy, organic and sustainable foods.
The best part about this blog is that you won’t have to listen to the ranting and ravings of yours truly. Instead, the content will be contributed almost exclusively by local foodie experts. We will feature local chefs who will provide recipes and cooking techniques; local farmers who will educate on locally grown produce and farm raised meats; and food enthusiasts who will share their own experiences on leading a healthier lifestyle. We hope to demystify such topics as “the green movement” and “organic eating” and as always, we welcome your input.
The recent movement in nutrition has largely been an ongoing “how to” discussion about “dieting,” in particular, how to utilize food in an effort to lose weight. Although I am, in fact, a fan of losing those unnecessary pounds, dieting for weight loss should be considered a short-term tactic. What most of us really need is a long term strategy of healthy eating.
Common questions and topics of interest I and others at Capitol Rehab come across include:
How does diet affect health and illness?
Can the preservatives and hormones that are routinely added to our foods actually contribute to long term illness?
If so, what can we — the consumers — do about it? We will tackle topics such as these.
Our goal is to help you lead the healthiest lifestyles possible and we believe that nutrition is at the core of this goal. The information is available and we hope this healthy food focused-blog will provide a platform to share and discuss.
We look forward to your involvement in what promises to be most interesting discussions … stay tuned!
