Our News Briefs

Message from Dr. Booker:
Online Video Effort, Upcoming Site Enhancements, New Blog

Dr. William Booker of Capitol Rehab of ArlingtonWe have been very excited about the launch the launch of our new web site. And even though we literally just went live with it about two months ago, we are already preparing for a new round of structural changes which I'm even more excited about. Again, the whole point is to continue highlighting news and information that matters most to you. Stay tuned!

Something else that thrills me as of late: my new online video effort. My marketing person keeps telling me to make videos for all of you and, since she's never steered me wrong just yet, I figured why not? So with my trusted digital cam, I've been making various videos demonstrating different helpful exercises like the one highlighted in this edition. Hope you really get a lot of good info from my videos — that's the whole point!

And finally, remember Amanda from our last newsletter? Wow!! Have you read the blog post comments to that original introduction? It is incredible! I've decided to change my practice. I'm no longer Bill the Chiropractor, I'm gonna be Bill the Male Oprah!! Just kidding!! Seriously, I am so touched by the overwhelming responses people have been having to her story. Amanda has hula hoops, hairdos, photo ops and more all waiting for her success. We have dedicated an entirely new blog to Amanda's Challenge. Check it out!

To your health,

Dr. William Booker, DC

The Side Plank

Perhaps the most well-rounded spinal stabilizing exercise, the side plank has been widely studied by the top spinal biomechanical experts in the world. This one movement trains all of the primary stabilizers of the abdominal wall, and can be modified to be more challenging to even the most athletic individual. This exercise is broken into three phases, the Bent Leg Side Bridge, The Straight Leg Side Bridge and The Straight Leg Side Bride with Rotation.

Are You a Facebook Page Fan Yet?

I confess, despite my best effort to not be fan page count hog, I can’t help but get a little (ok . . . a LOT) excited every time I see our Facebook fan page count go up by one or two new folks. I can’t help it. Call me numbers happy but the thought of reaching just ONE more person with information about health, nutrition, fitness and overall wellness makes me one very giddy doc!

booker nuggets

  • The most common causes of shoulder problems are muscular and joint dysfunction that lead to faulty movement patterns.
  • A good rehab specialist should perform a functional evaluation to find out what you can do and what causes trouble.
  • Keep in mind it is important to try to stay as active as possible when you have back pain. You may have to modify the way you do some activities, but a good healthcare provider can help you with those strategies.
