Our News Briefs

Message from Dr. Booker:
Back from vacation; It's Good to be Back!

Dr. William Booker of Capitol Rehab of ArlingtonHappy April!! I'm finally back after an incredible 2-week road trip. I don't anticipate any future 2-week spring breaks for the kids, but in the event that they do, I am certain I will attempt to do something very similar to this past excursion. I am strongly recommending the quick weekend to cool cities like Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina and I am recommending even more strongly a vacation week to Kiawah Island or South Beach.

While my time with the family was as wonderful, as the new information I gathered at the ART seminar in Orlando, Florida was eye opening (see below). A lot has changed since I was introduced to Active Release 12 years ago but the evolution of the technique has provided wonderful opportunities in our field. The new approaches to shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand issues, as well as the comprehensive treatment for carpal tunnel and radicular pain syndromes, will vastly improve patient outcomes.

We look forward to continuing to serve you and look forward to the opportunity to "show off" our new and improved treatments for these challenging areas.

To your health,

Dr. William Booker, DC

This one movement trains all of the primary stabilizers of the abdominal wall, and can be modified to be more challenging to even the most athletic individual. This exercise is broken into three phases, the Bent Leg Side Bridge, The Straight Leg Side Bridge and The Straight Leg Side Bride with Rotation.

3 Signs Your Back Pain Is Caused By A Bulging Or Herniated Disc, and What You Should Do About It

When diagnosing lower back pain, it is crucial to rule out disk involvement FIRST because of all of the mechanical back problems, a bulging, herniated or rupturing disc is the one condition most likely to result in a visit to the emergency room. In fact, should the disc actually rupture, surgery may be the only treatment option.

Blog post: Dr. Booker Completes Active Release Technique Series for Upper Extremity Protocols

Last week I completed the upper extremity protocols of the Active Release Technique Series. For the record, I was introduced to ART some 10-11 years ago and thought it was great then. But as I have grown to learn, most great things have a tendency to evolve. When I was learning some of the active release protocols, it seemed as if there were maybe 20-30 protocols for the entire body. Last weekend, I was going to be tested on 110 . . . JUST FOR THE SHOULDER, ARM AND HAND!! Read more here!
